Literally back from the dead guys.. no kidding..

Apparently us lazy asses don’t feel like doing anything in Ramadan..

So To-day i will be sharing my daily skincare routine… It may not be perfect but it’s definitely do-able even in the most busiest of schedules. So here goes..

Hydration

Okay first things first. You will see and/or hear this word A LOT in this post.

So by hydration… I mean hydration on a lot of levels. But the first ever thing I do when i get up is, drink a glass of water at room temp. And if its possible, Sometimes, I prepare some detox water the night before. But mostly, just water.

Not only it wakes YOU up, it wakes up your skin too. Waking up to a glass of water has a lot of health benefits as well as skin benefits. Well, we are pretty much hungry and dehydrated for about 8-10 hours. So your skin is basically waiting for hydration with wide arms.. arms, yeah.

Using a light facewash

I don’t normally go after fancy face washes and here’s why:

I have normal-oily skin.

So I don’t really try just anything. I prefer gel face washes over bars and cream face washes.

It’s best if you use a light-weight, pleasant-smelling face wash as a part of your daily skincare. The light-weight formula gently cleanses your face and leaves no residue, which is a major turnoff when it leads to black/white heads and/or comedones.

I use Neutrogena pink grapefruit gel face wash. I love it. It does what it promises. It is gentle on the skin and smells incredible which is a plus because you actually need that kick in the morning.

The BEST part? Anyone can use it because it is dermatologist-recommended, hypo-allergenic and non-comedogenic. Yayy!!

*psst.. boys, if you wanna use this one, go ahead!! Its pink in color, yeah, but we ain’t judging……*

Exfoliating

One common mistake i see people making is that if they have tired or comedogenic skin, they exfoliate everyday!! Thinking that it would give them that radiant and clear looking skin. Trust me, that ain’t daily skincare, that’s daily skin-kill!

Okay, Barney Stinson says and i quote:

As much as we all want that perfect skin that shines from within, we need to understand that our skin needs some time to breathe and do its thing. By exfoliating every now and then, the skin only gets more and more irritated thus, bringing forth all the dry areas and marks that we want gone.

Exfoliating once in two days is ideal in most skin conditions. It picks up all the dead skin cells and the skin gets enough time to rejuvenate.

Mistake number 2 is that people think purchasing a facial scrub with thicker granules is going to do the job. Helllll no!

So same theory, use a light scrub to do that. I prefer gel scrubs over creamy ones. The latter, leaves residue on my face and eventually, i see little whiteheads sticking their tiny little asses right in my face!! *well that got literal*

Starting the day with something healthy

Sure, all we want is to grab a cup o’ coffee and get done. And yes, it wakes us up BUT! It eventually leaves the skin looking dry and tired. How? Coffee is known to cut down fat in your body. But it also takes away some of the moisture.

My Advice? Replace that coffee with a glass of green tea, honey water or orange juice. You can totally drink coffee later, but it should not be the first thing you consume in the morning.

Instead, cherries, oranges, tomatoes, cornflakes, milk and eggs seem like better options.

Hydration

Told you… this you would see a lot! Try and stay hydrated by drinking a lot of water throughout your day. Your skin will reflect the amount of water you drink. true story.

Cleansing

The first thing you should do after you get home is get any makeup off your skin. it has been there all day and it really needs some breathing by this time. So cleanse your face and remove your makeup right away.

Exfoliation

Exfoliation should ideally be done at night. Because that is when you and your skin both get some peace and quiet.

Moisturize

The Last Step before going to sleep should be moisturizing. Use any moisturizer that best suits you before going to sleep. it is going to do its job whilst your snoozing. i use the following.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel

Schwarzkorf & Henkel Laboratories Diadermine HydraList Miracle Hydrating Spray (a German brand not widely available, but the mist is just great)

Hydration

A-Gain. Drink at least two glasses of water before going to bed.

So this is pretty much what i do aka my daily skincare ritual. Told you it is do-able. Let me know if you already do/will do any of this stuff. Asta La’Vista.

Brotip: Add in a little orange extract to your moisturizer. you will be amazed by the results.
